Coway is a South Korean home-wellness company whose US Cowaymega store focuses on Airmega air purifiers, fans, bidets, water-treatment products and replacement filters. The Airmega lineup ranges from compact desktop machines to extra-large-room purifiers with custom filter options.
This review compares four products that represent the current US range in 2026: Airmega 450, Airmega 250S, Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH and Airmega Aim. We examine prices, room-size claims, CADR, filtration, sensors, app features, noise, energy use, filter cost, warranties, shipping and returns.

What makes Coway Airmega different?
Coway offers a deep model range with distinct body styles, airflow patterns and filter systems. Many models include automatic air-quality response and washable or vacuumable pre-filtration.
The broad lineup also creates compatibility complexity. A 450 cartridge, 250 Max2 filter, Mighty set and Aim cartridge are entirely different products.
Understanding the 0.01-micron claim
Coway states that tested Airmega systems can capture more than 99.999% of selected ultra-fine particles down to 0.01 micron under controlled chamber conditions.
This should not be interpreted as instant removal of 99.999% of all pollution in a home. Room size, leakage, fan speed, placement and new pollution sources determine real-world concentration.
HEPA capture is not room sterilization
A filter may capture aerosolized biological particles that pass through the machine. It does not disinfect walls, furniture, hands or every part of the room.
Laboratory virus-removal results do not establish that an air purifier prevents transmission of disease in normal use.
Coverage numbers need air-change context
The largest square-foot figure usually represents one complete room volume passing through the machine per hour. That is relatively slow for active particle control.
For allergy or smoke use, a buyer should prioritize a smaller room size associated with four to five air changes per hour where available.
Airmega 450 versus 250S
Airmega 450 delivers much higher CADR and uses a customizable filter family. It is the better choice for open living areas and heavy smoke demand.
Airmega 250S is shorter, app connected and easier to integrate into bedrooms or offices. It provides better scheduling and remote visibility.

Airmega Mighty versus 250S
Mighty costs much less and delivers a smoke CADR of 233 cfm. It already includes Auto and Eco modes, which cover the most useful automation.
Airmega 250S adds a more modern filter layout, Rapid Mode, Wi-Fi, scheduling and voice control. Its premium is mainly convenience and larger coverage rather than basic functionality.
Airmega Aim versus an ordinary fan
A conventional fan circulates existing room air without removing particles. Aim pulls air through a filter before directing the airflow.
Its airflow can improve personal comfort, but it is not refrigerated air conditioning and does not lower room temperature like an AC system.
CADR is a practical comparison tool
Clean Air Delivery Rate combines airflow with particle-removal efficiency. Smoke CADR is especially useful for fine-particle events such as wildfire smoke.
A higher CADR generally means faster removal in the same room when placement and filter condition are comparable.
Automatic modes
Auto mode raises or lowers fan speed in response to the particle sensor. Eco mode can stop the fan after air remains clean for a set period.
Automatic operation can reduce noise and electricity use, but continuous medium speed may control recurring particles more consistently.
Rapid and Turbo modes
Airmega 250S uses Rapid Mode, while Airmega 450 includes Turbo. Both prioritize maximum cleaning for a temporary high-pollution event.
Maximum speed increases noise and energy use. It is most useful during cooking, vacuuming, smoke intrusion or initial room cleanup.
Particle sensors have limits
PM sensors estimate airborne particle concentration. They do not directly measure carbon monoxide, radon, every VOC, humidity-related mold growth or all allergens.
A clean air-quality light does not prove that every indoor pollutant is absent.
Carbon and odor performance
Activated carbon can reduce selected odors and gases, but effectiveness depends on carbon quantity, chemical type and contact time.
For strong wildfire or tobacco odors, the Intense Smoke+ option may be more appropriate than the standard 450 cartridge.
Bipolar-device considerations
The Mighty includes a switchable bipolar device in addition to its mechanical filters. Buyers who prefer particle filtration alone can review the manual and operate the feature according to their preference.
The core particulate performance is still based on moving air through the pre-filter and HEPA media.

Filter subscriptions
Coway offers schedules of six, nine or twelve months for compatible filter products. Current subscription language describes an initial discount followed by larger refill savings.
Subscriptions automatically renew. Changes should be made at least two days before the next billing cycle.
Placement
Keep the intake and outlet clear of curtains, furniture and walls. Large models need sufficient open space to distribute air.
Place a purifier in the room where people spend time rather than expecting one closed-room unit to clean an entire multi-level home.
Noise in bedrooms
Low-speed numbers can be quiet enough for sleep, while high or Turbo settings are clearly audible.
Running at a stronger setting before bedtime and lowering the speed overnight can balance cleaning and comfort.
Electricity use
Aim is the lowest-power featured model at 33 watts. Airmega 250S uses up to 64 watts, 450 uses 72 watts and Mighty can reach 77 watts.
Actual consumption varies with Auto or Eco behavior and fan speed. Heater-like energy loads are not involved because these products are purifiers or fans only.
Wi-Fi and app requirements
Airmega 250S uses the IoCare+ app for remote control, schedules and status. Coway notes that the router must support the required 2.4 GHz configuration.
Airmega 450, Mighty and Aim can perform their primary functions without a cloud account.
Warranty details
The current warranty table gives all Airmega models one year of coverage for internal or functional parts.
Airmega 450, 250S, Mighty and Aim fall under the separate three-year motor and electronic-parts category. This is not the same as a full three-year warranty on every component.
Thirty-day returns
The formal refund policy requires customers to request an RMA within 30 days from the shipped date and send the product back within 30 days after approval.
Accessories must be included and the product must be in good physical condition. Missing parts can result in refusal or a restocking deduction.
Return-shipping responsibility
Product pages promote a 30-day return benefit, but the detailed policy says the customer is responsible for shipping, handling and processing costs unless the return resulted from Coway’s error.

Airmega 450 is the correct choice when high airflow and extra-large coverage matter more than app control. Aim is a useful personal purifier and fan but should not be oversized based on its one-hour coverage number.
Overall, Coway Airmega is worth considering when buyers size the product using CADR and air changes rather than the largest marketing area. The Mighty is our best overall recommendation for most households.
