What is Ka’Chava?

Ka’Chava is a premium plant-based all-in-one nutrition shake made by Tribal Nutrition. It is positioned between a protein powder, fortified meal shake and superfood supplement.

The current formula combines pea and brown-rice protein, coconut and oat ingredients, fiber, seeds, fruit and vegetable powders, functional mushrooms, digestive enzymes, probiotic strains, vitamins and minerals.

Ka’Chava currently describes the product as vegan and made without dairy, gluten, soy, preservatives or artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners. The formulas do contain coconut and sesame, and the manufacturing facility may handle additional allergens.

Our quick verdict

Ka’Chava earns a 4.7/5 editorial rating. It offers a convenient combination of protein, fiber and micronutrients with a smoother and more dessert-like taste than many greens-heavy meal powders.

The 15-Serving Variety Pack is the best way to test several flavors before buying large bags. Chocolate is the strongest general recommendation, Matcha is best for green-tea drinkers, and Coffee suits people who want a café-style flavor with very little caffeine.

The biggest drawback is price. A standard one-time bag costs $69.95 for 15 servings, or about $4.66 per shake before adding milk, fruit, nut butter or other ingredients. The current Love-It Guarantee now provides store credit rather than a cash refund and excludes the Variety Pack.

Is Ka’Chava a protein shake or a meal replacement?

It is more complete than a basic protein powder but lighter than many conventional 400-calorie meal replacements.

A typical current serving provides approximately:

  • 240 calories
  • 25 g plant-based protein
  • 6 g dietary fiber
  • About 6 g fat
  • Approximately 20–22 g carbohydrate
  • Vitamins, minerals and electrolytes

At 240 calories, Ka’Chava can be a substantial snack or a light meal. Some adults may need additional calories for a satisfying breakfast or lunch, particularly when highly active or using the shake as a full meal.

Adding fruit, oats or nut butter can make the shake more substantial but changes its calories, protein and cost.

What is in the Ka’Chava formula?

The exact ingredients vary by flavor, but the current products use several main groups:

  • Plant proteins and milks: yellow pea protein, brown-rice protein, coconut milk, oat milk and sacha inchi.
  • Fiber and seeds: acacia gum, flax, chia, amaranth, quinoa, soluble corn fiber and chicory root.
  • Greens and fruit ingredients: spinach, kale, berries, beetroot, carrot, camu camu, chlorella and spirulina.
  • Functional mushrooms: lion’s mane, maitake, reishi and shiitake.
  • Digestive enzymes: amylase, protease, lactase, cellulase and lipase.
  • Probiotics: current labels include strains of Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus acidophilus.
  • Added micronutrients: vitamins A, C, D, E and B vitamins, plus calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium and other minerals.

Best overall trial: 15-Serving Variety Pack

The 15-Serving Variety Pack is our best first purchase for someone who has never tried Ka’Chava. It currently contains:

  • 3 Chocolate packets
  • 3 Vanilla packets
  • 3 Strawberry packets
  • 2 Coconut Açaí packets
  • 2 Matcha packets
  • 2 Chai packets

The one-time price is currently $74.95, or approximately $4.99 per serving. Subscribe & Save is listed at $63.71, or about $4.24 per serving.

The Variety Pack costs more per serving than a standard bag, but it lowers the risk of committing to 15 servings of a flavor that is unsuitable. This matters because Matcha, Chai and Coconut Açaí taste very different from Chocolate or Vanilla.

The current 30-day Love-It Guarantee explicitly excludes variety packs. Buyers should treat the purchase as a paid flavor trial rather than assuming it qualifies for store credit.

Best overall flavor: Chocolate Ka’Chava

Chocolate Ka'Chava bag and prepared chocolate shake
Chocolate is a current bestseller and combines cacao with coconut milk, plant protein, fiber and added micronutrients. Image source: Ka’Chava.

Chocolate is the safest full-bag choice. It has a familiar cacao profile and hides the earthy notes of greens and mushrooms more effectively than lighter flavors.

Each current two-scoop serving provides approximately:

  • 240 calories
  • 25 g protein
  • 6 g fiber
  • 7 g total sugar
  • 4 g added sugar
  • 450 mg sodium
  • 470 mg calcium
  • 200 mg magnesium

A 15-serving bag costs $69.95 one time or $59.95 by subscription.

The company estimates that naturally occurring caffeine in Chocolate is below 15 mg per serving based on a single analysis. That is low, but not necessarily zero.

Chocolate taste and texture

The texture is creamy when mixed in a blender and thicker or slightly grainier when shaken by hand. Coconut milk, gums, flax, chia and fiber contribute to the body.

The flavor is less sweet than many commercial chocolate milkshakes. Luo han guo, also called monk fruit, provides additional sweetness without artificial sweetener.

People who dislike coconut or monk-fruit aftertaste may prefer to start with the Variety Pack.

Best green-tea flavor: Matcha Ka’Chava

Matcha Ka'Chava bag and prepared green shake
Matcha has an earthy green-tea profile softened with coconut milk and subtle sweetness. Image source: Ka’Chava.

Matcha is designed to taste like a lightly sweet matcha latte. It uses organic matcha green tea within the current greens-and-superfoods blend.

The bag provides 15 servings and currently costs $69.95 one time or $59.95 by subscription.

The core nutrition remains approximately 240 calories, 25 g protein and 6 g fiber per serving.

Ka’Chava does not standardize caffeine, but a single analysis estimated Matcha at less than 35 mg per serving. This is much lower than many coffeehouse drinks but can still affect caffeine-sensitive users or sleep when consumed late.

Who should choose Matcha?

  • People who already enjoy matcha or green-tea lattes.
  • Customers who want a lightly caffeinated breakfast shake.
  • Users who find Chocolate too rich.

Matcha is not the best starting flavor for someone who dislikes earthy, grassy or tea-like tastes.

Best low-caffeine café flavor: Coffee Ka’Chava

Coffee Ka'Chava all-in-one nutrition shake bag and prepared coffee drink
Coffee Ka’Chava uses real decaffeinated Brazilian coffee and contains very little naturally occurring caffeine. Image source: Ka’Chava.

Coffee Ka’Chava is made with decaffeinated Brazilian coffee and is designed for customers who want a café-style taste without a full coffee dose.

The bag currently costs $69.95 one time or $59.95 by subscription and contains 15 servings.

The current formula provides approximately 240 calories, 25 g protein and 6 g fiber per serving. Ka’Chava estimates the caffeine at less than 5 mg per serving based on a single analysis.

“Decaf” does not always mean absolutely caffeine-free. People requiring strict zero-caffeine intake should choose Vanilla, Strawberry, Coconut Açaí or Chai, which the company currently lists as caffeine-free.

Does Ka’Chava provide complete nutrition?

Ka’Chava provides substantial protein, fiber and many vitamins and minerals. It is more nutritionally broad than a standard protein powder.

However, one 240-calorie serving does not provide an entire day of nutrition and may not be a sufficiently large meal for everyone. The term “whole-body nutrition” is a marketing description rather than a medical classification.

Food variety remains important. Whole fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, nuts and seeds provide diverse textures, fiber structures and phytochemicals.

Can Ka’Chava support weight loss?

A measured 240-calorie shake can simplify calorie control when it replaces a higher-calorie meal or snack. Protein and fiber may also improve fullness for some users.

Ka’Chava does not cause fat loss independently. Adding it to the same existing diet can increase total calories.

People using GLP-1 medications may find a liquid meal easier during low-appetite periods, but medication-related nausea, dehydration, gallbladder symptoms and inadequate calorie or protein intake require guidance from the prescribing clinician.

Protein quality and muscle support

Ka’Chava combines pea and brown-rice protein, which have complementary amino-acid profiles. A current serving provides 25 g protein.

This can support daily protein intake and muscle maintenance when combined with sufficient total calories and resistance exercise.

A person needing only protein may obtain better value from a simpler protein powder. Ka’Chava’s price reflects the larger ingredient and micronutrient formula.

Fiber and digestive adjustment

Six grams of fiber is 21% of the current Daily Value. The formula includes acacia gum, flax, chia, soluble corn fiber and chicory root.

These ingredients may support bowel regularity and provide fermentable substrate for gut microbes. They can also cause gas, bloating or changes in stool when introduced too quickly.

Begin with half a serving or one serving per day and increase gradually. NIDDK notes that some people experience more gas when consuming too much fiber and that increasing fiber slowly may help.

Probiotic claims require strain and dose context

Ka’Chava lists Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus acidophilus within its fiber-and-probiotics blend.

Probiotic benefits are strain-specific and depend on the number of viable organisms at the time of use. The public product page identifies the strains and supplier potency but does not clearly translate that information into a guaranteed viable CFU count per prepared shake.

The product should not be used as treatment for a gastrointestinal infection or chronic digestive disease.

Digestive enzymes

The formula contains amylase, protease, lactase, cellulase and lipase. These enzymes act on carbohydrate, protein, lactose, plant material and fat.

They may help digest the ingredients inside the shake, but their presence does not prove that the user has pancreatic insufficiency, lactose intolerance or another enzyme deficiency.

Adaptogens and functional mushrooms

Ka’Chava includes ingredients such as maca and functional mushrooms. The quantity of each individual mushroom or adaptogen is not disclosed separately on the public product page.

This prevents direct comparison with research doses. Ingredient presence is not the same as a clinically tested dose.

People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking immunosuppressants or managing autoimmune, thyroid or liver conditions should review frequent use of complex botanical blends with a healthcare professional.

Vitamins and minerals: useful but easy to stack

A single serving provides meaningful percentages of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, B vitamins, calcium, magnesium, zinc and selenium.

Customers should include Ka’Chava when calculating totals from multivitamins and other fortified products. Several daily servings plus supplements can duplicate micronutrients unnecessarily.

Ka’Chava is a fortified food product, not a substitute for prescription treatment or laboratory-guided deficiency care.

Sodium and medical diets

Current sodium varies by flavor. Chocolate currently lists 450 mg per serving, while Coffee lists around 300 mg.

These amounts can fit many diets but deserve attention for people with heart failure, kidney disease, hypertension or prescribed sodium restrictions.

The current formulas also contain potassium, phosphorus and magnesium, which may require monitoring in kidney disease.

Allergens and dietary preferences

The current product is marketed as vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free. It contains coconut and sesame.

The company states that the manufacturing plant may also process milk, tree nuts, wheat and soy. People with severe allergies should review the exact current package and manufacturing statement.

Ka’Chava is not currently presented as certified organic as a complete product, even though many individual ingredients are organic.

Heavy metals and quality testing

Ka’Chava says ingredients are screened for identity, allergens, heavy metals, toxins, aflatoxins, pesticides, potency, purity and microbes.

Finished products are tested for microbial contamination, allergens, heavy metals, sensory characteristics and Nutrition Facts verification. The company also states that third-party laboratories are used for verification and validation.

Ka’Chava reports that its plant-based powders have tested below FDA Interim Reference Levels for lead. The company does not currently publish every batch Certificate of Analysis directly on each retail product page.

How to mix Ka’Chava

  1. Add approximately 12–14 fluid ounces of cold water.
  2. Add two level scoops.
  3. Blend or shake thoroughly.
  4. Add ice and additional water to adjust thickness.

A blender produces the smoothest result. The shake becomes thicker as fiber and seeds absorb water.

Subscription pricing

A standard flavor subscription currently provides:

  • $10 off each 15-serving bag
  • $59.95 per bag instead of $69.95
  • Changeable flavors and quantities
  • Adjustable shipment dates and frequency
  • Pre-shipment reminders
  • Cancellation at any time without a fee

The Variety Pack currently receives a 15% subscription discount rather than the standard $10-bag discount.

Shipping

Ka’Chava currently provides free direct shipping on U.S. orders of $99 or more after discounts.

The company ships to commercial and residential addresses, PO boxes, all 50 states, U.S. territories and APO addresses. International customers are currently directed to iHerb.

Ka’Chava states that approximately 95% of orders arrive within three to four business days, with an estimated three to five business days for many orders and up to two weeks for Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. territories.

Love-It Guarantee

The current policy was updated in May 2026. Eligible direct purchases can be tried for 30 days, but approved claims now receive store credit rather than a cash refund.

Important conditions include:

  • The request must begin within 30 days of the order date.
  • Only direct purchases from KaChava.com are covered.
  • Amazon purchases are excluded.
  • Variety Packs are excluded.
  • Coverage is limited to the equivalent of two bags per account in a rolling 12-month period.
  • Store credit expires one year after issuance.

What we like

  • Twenty-five grams of plant protein.
  • Six grams of fiber.
  • Broad micronutrient coverage.
  • No dairy, gluten or soy under current formulation.
  • Flavor and single-serve options.
  • Extensive contaminant and quality testing claims.

What could be better

  • High cost per serving.
  • Only 15 servings per standard bag.
  • Some formulas contain naturally occurring caffeine.
  • Individual adaptogen and mushroom doses are not disclosed.
  • Fiber may cause bloating during adjustment.
  • The current guarantee provides store credit and excludes Variety Packs.

Who should consider Ka’Chava?

  • Busy adults seeking a convenient light meal.
  • People who want more nutrition than a basic protein powder.
  • Plant-based users needing portable protein.
  • Customers who enjoy thick, creamy shakes.
  • People willing to pay a premium for a broad ingredient formula.

Who may want to look elsewhere?

  • Budget shoppers seeking the lowest protein cost.
  • People needing a higher-calorie complete meal.
  • Customers sensitive to coconut, sesame, gums or fermentable fiber.
  • People who require precise doses for every botanical ingredient.
  • Customers expecting an unrestricted cash-back guarantee.

Final verdict: Is Ka’Chava worth buying?

Ka’Chava is worth considering when convenience, taste and broad nutrition matter more than the lowest cost per gram of protein.

The 15-Serving Variety Pack is the best flavor test, though it is excluded from the current guarantee. Chocolate is our best full-bag recommendation, Matcha suits tea drinkers and Coffee delivers café flavor with very little caffeine.

Begin with one serving per day, account for the vitamins and minerals in other supplements and evaluate whether 240 calories is enough for the meal being replaced.
