Quick verdict
Caraway is a design-led kitchenware brand best known for colorful ceramic-coated cookware, coordinated bakeware, glass food-storage systems and space-saving organizers. Its products are positioned as alternatives to traditional PTFE-based non-stick cookware, with current collections tested for PFAS and selected heavy metals.
Our overall rating is 4.8/5. Caraway is attractive, easy to use and especially convenient for low- to medium-heat cooking. The main limitations are premium pricing, the care required to preserve ceramic non-stick performance, relatively short warranty coverage on ceramic products and the fact that coated cookware will not remain slick forever.
What is Caraway?
Caraway is a modern home and kitchen brand launched in 2019. It began with a ceramic-coated cookware set and has expanded into stainless steel cookware, enameled cast iron, bakeware, food storage, prep tools, utensils, kettles and kitchen organization products.
The brand's main selling points are coordinated design, compact storage and cooking surfaces made without intentionally added PTFE, PFOA and PFAS. Caraway publishes product-specific laboratory reports and says its cookware and bakeware are tested by independent accredited laboratories.
Caraway should not be evaluated only as a “non-toxic” lifestyle brand. It is still cookware, and performance depends on construction, heat control, utensils, cleaning and realistic expectations about the lifespan of a ceramic coating.
Caraway Cookware Set review
The best-known Caraway product is its 12-piece Ceramic Cookware Set, currently listed at $445, reduced from a stated set value of $675. The set includes a 10.5-inch Fry Pan, 3-quart Sauce Pan, 4.5-quart Sauté Pan, 6.5-quart Dutch Oven, three lids, magnetic pan racks and a canvas lid holder.
The cookware uses an aluminum body for heat conduction, a ceramic-coated cooking surface, stainless-steel handles and a stainless base plate for compatibility with gas, electric and induction stovetops. The pieces are oven-safe up to 550°F.
The set performs best with eggs, pancakes, vegetables, grains, sauces and other foods that benefit from a slick surface. It heats relatively quickly and requires only a small amount of oil. The included organizers are genuinely useful for buyers who have enough cabinet space to use them properly.
The most important limitation is care. Caraway recommends preheating only on low to medium heat, avoiding aerosol cooking sprays, using silicone or wooden utensils, allowing pans to cool before washing and cleaning by hand with a non-abrasive sponge. Repeated high heat, dishwasher use, metal utensils and thermal shock can shorten the life of the coating.
Is Caraway really PFAS-free?
Caraway states that its ceramic cookware and bakeware are formulated without PFAS, including PTFE and PFOA. The company currently publishes third-party testing reports covering hundreds of PFAS compounds, total organic fluorine and more than 20 heavy metals, with results reported as not detected within the relevant reporting limits for the tested samples.
That wording matters. “Not detected” means a substance was not found above the laboratory method's reporting limit; it is not the same as proving that absolutely zero molecules exist. It is nevertheless more transparent than relying on an unsupported marketing statement.
The term “non-toxic” is broad marketing language rather than a universal cookware certification. Buyers should focus on the actual materials, published test methods, correct use temperatures and condition of the cooking surface.
How long does the ceramic coating last?
Ceramic-coated cookware is valued for easy release and quick cleanup, but it is not permanent. With careful use, it can stay effective for a meaningful period; with frequent high heat, abrasive cleaning or metal utensils, performance can decline much faster.
Caraway's own limited warranty excludes ordinary non-stick deterioration, discoloration, coating damage caused by high heat, abrasive cleaners and improper storage. That makes the warranty a manufacturing-defect warranty rather than a guarantee that the pan will stay non-stick for a specific number of years.
Buyers seeking cookware intended for decades of high-heat searing should consider uncoated stainless steel or enameled cast iron. Ceramic non-stick is better treated as a convenience surface for controlled everyday cooking.
Caraway Fry Pan review
The 10.5-inch Ceramic Fry Pan is currently priced at $125. It is the best entry point for shoppers who want to try Caraway without committing to an entire set.
The pan is suitable for eggs, sautéed vegetables, tortillas, fish and moderate-temperature everyday meals. It works on all common stovetops and is oven-safe up to 550°F. A lid is not included in the standard configuration.
At $125, the pan is expensive compared with basic ceramic non-stick competitors. Its value comes from design, construction, color selection and the experience of using a coordinated premium product rather than from low cost per pan.
Caraway Bakeware Set review
The 11-piece Bakeware Set is currently listed at $445, with a stated set value of $605. It includes baking sheets, a cooling rack, rectangle pan, muffin pan, loaf pan, square pan and storage organizers.
The steel pieces use Caraway's ceramic non-stick coating and are oven-safe up to 550°F. The set is useful for cookies, roasted vegetables, cakes, brownies, bread and meal preparation. Food release is generally easy when the coating is intact, and the storage system reduces the clutter common with baking sheets and pans.
As with the cookware, the coating requires gentle treatment. Sharp knives, metal spatulas, abrasive pads and prolonged exposure to extreme heat can damage the surface. Buyers who regularly cut food directly inside baking pans or use a broiler aggressively may be better served by uncoated stainless or aluminum bakeware.
Caraway Food Storage Set review
The current Food Storage Set is listed at $225, reduced from a stated value of $310. The current 13-piece configuration combines ceramic-coated glass containers with lids, inserts and cabinet organizers.
The containers are designed for refrigerator, freezer, microwave and oven use, with the glass bodies rated up to 450°F. Their ceramic-coated interiors resist stains and are easier to clean than many plastic containers. The system is especially appealing to households trying to reduce routine food contact with plastic.
There are practical trade-offs. Glass is heavier than plastic, the set is expensive and the lids require attention to the product-specific care instructions. The containers are also less suitable for carrying liquids because Caraway warns that some configurations are not designed for leak-proof transportation of soups or water.
Caraway Stainless Steel Cookware
Caraway now offers a 5-ply stainless-steel Cookware Set, currently listed at $595. It uses two exterior stainless-steel layers with three aluminum inner layers and is designed for higher heat, searing, browning and long-term durability.
The stainless collection is dishwasher-safe, compatible with all stovetops, oven-safe up to 550°F and supported by a limited lifetime warranty in the United States. It is a stronger choice for serious cooks who are willing to learn stainless-steel temperature control and deglazing.
The ceramic set remains easier for delicate foods and fast cleanup, while stainless steel is the better long-term investment for high-heat cooking. Buyers do not need every collection; the right material depends on cooking style.
Materials and construction
- Ceramic Cookware: aluminum body, ceramic-coated cooking surface, stainless-steel handles and base plate.
- Stainless Cookware: fully clad 5-ply construction using stainless steel and internal aluminum layers.
- Bakeware: steel body with ceramic non-stick coating.
- Food Storage: borosilicate glass body, ceramic-coated interior and BPA-free accessories.
- Utensils: selected sets use FSC-certified birch wood.
Caraway says its ceramic coating is mineral-based. This does not make the full product biodegradable or compostable. Aluminum, steel, glass, silicone, plastics and mixed coatings each have different manufacturing and end-of-life impacts.
Care and cleaning
Correct care is essential for preserving the ceramic surface:
- Preheat on low or medium heat for no more than about 90 seconds.
- Add a small amount of oil or butter after preheating.
- Avoid aerosol cooking sprays, which can leave difficult residue.
- Use wood, silicone or other non-abrasive utensils.
- Allow cookware to cool before washing.
- Hand wash ceramic cookware with warm water, mild soap and a soft sponge.
- Do not use steel wool, harsh scouring powder or bleach.
- Use the included protectors or racks to prevent surface contact during storage.
Stainless-steel pieces have different care requirements and can tolerate more aggressive cooking. Always follow the instructions for the specific collection rather than assuming all Caraway products are maintained the same way.
Sustainability considerations
Caraway uses recycled cardboard, avoids plastic bags in selected packaging and has described the use of low-impact printing dyes and biodegradable cork trivets. It also says some manufacturing partners follow BSCI or SMETA social-compliance standards.
The strongest environmental argument is avoiding intentionally added PFAS in the ceramic collections and keeping products in use for as long as possible. The weakness is that ceramic-coated cookware may need replacement sooner than durable uncoated stainless steel when the coating wears.
For sustainability, buying only the pieces that will be used is usually better than purchasing a large matching set for appearance alone. The $125 Fry Pan may be a more responsible first purchase than a full set for someone unsure about ceramic cookware.
Shipping, returns and warranty
Caraway currently offers ground shipping within the continental United States, with promotional free shipping generally tied to order thresholds. Orders typically arrive two to four business days after processing, though actual timing can vary.
The return policy allows customers to initiate a return within 30 days of delivery for a refund, provided the required original packaging and accessories are included. Bulk purchases and gift cards can be excluded, and returns that do not meet the conditions may be denied or charged a restocking fee.
Most ceramic and general Caraway products carry a limited one-year warranty in the United States. Stainless Steel and Enameled Cast Iron products are covered by a limited lifetime warranty. Coverage focuses on defects in material, construction or workmanship and excludes normal wear, cosmetic changes, overheating and damage caused by improper care.
Pricing and value
Prices checked on August 3, 2026:
- Ceramic Cookware Set: $445.
- 10.5-inch Ceramic Fry Pan: $125.
- 11-piece Bakeware Set: $445.

- 5-ply Stainless Steel Cookware Set: $595.
Caraway is a premium brand. Buyers pay for aesthetics, coordinated colors, storage accessories, direct-to-consumer presentation and a polished user experience. The products are not the cheapest route to PFAS-free cookware, and sale prices should be compared with current individual-piece prices rather than accepted automatically as permanent savings.
Who should buy Caraway?
- Home cooks who mainly use low to medium heat.
- People who prioritize easy release and simple hand cleaning.
- Buyers who want attractive cookware that can remain visible in the kitchen.
- Small kitchens that can benefit from included racks and lid storage.
- Households seeking cookware made without intentionally added PTFE, PFOA and PFAS.
- Shoppers comfortable paying more for design and coordinated organization.
Who should skip it?
- High-heat cooks who frequently sear, broil or preheat pans aggressively.
- Anyone who insists on putting cookware in the dishwasher.
- Buyers expecting a ceramic non-stick surface to last for decades.
- Budget shoppers who care more about function than color and presentation.
- People who regularly use metal utensils or abrasive cleaning tools.
- Anyone who would be better served by one stainless-steel pan rather than a large coated set.
Pros and cons
Pros: attractive design, useful organizers, easy food release, broad color range, all-stovetop compatibility, oven-safe construction, publicly available third-party testing, cookware made without intentionally added PTFE/PFOA/PFAS and a 30-day return window.
Cons: expensive, ceramic performance declines with wear, hand washing is required, low-to-medium heat is strongly recommended, the one-year ceramic warranty is limited and large sets can encourage unnecessary spending.
Our verdict
Caraway earns 4.4 out of 5. Its Ceramic Cookware Set is one of the most polished options for buyers who want attractive, easy-release cookware and are prepared to follow careful use instructions. The Fry Pan is the best starting point because it tests the coating and cooking style without a $445 commitment.
The Bakeware Set is appealing for frequent bakers with storage space, while the Food Storage Set is best for buyers who prioritize glass and coordinated organization. Serious high-heat cooks should consider Caraway's stainless-steel collection—or another quality stainless option—instead of expecting ceramic non-stick to handle every task.
Caraway is worth it for the right routine, but it is not maintenance-free cookware. Its value depends on gentle heat, correct utensils, careful washing and buying only the pieces that will be used regularly.
